7b: Evaluating Sources
Book Source: I've only started the book but so far it is discussing more of how composers become musicians rather then children and their musical abilities. I plan to go to the table of content, look up which chapter would best compare to my topic and read that chapter. If it's related I will use the information in my essay and if not, I'll return the book and find another that is related.

It is a great source because it scientifically discusses the locations of the brain, where memories are held, and how scientists believe that the part of the brain where the memories are stored are also close or connected to the same part of the brain that recognizes music and that is why we are able to comprehend our favorite songs and sometimes be able to bring back an old memory. It also has been said that older people with alzheimers have a better chance at remembering things when listening to music because the two locations in the brain are connected, rather then older people who do not listen to music.

6c: Planning Field Research
After going through different types of field research class, I have come up with three types of field research for my topic, two interviews and a survey. This semester I'm taking Intro to Psychology and have been really interested in the subject, hence my topic being the Psychology of music. I plan to ask permission to conduct an interview with my psychology professor and ask him a few questions and his own opinions about music and its effects on people's minds, emotions, and learning abilites. My second interview will be with my high school choir teacher and I plan to repeat the same questions and ask for her own opinion as I will do for my psych professor, then compare and contrast each educator's view on music psychology. My third and final field research, a survey, will be given to my family and closest friends. On the survey I will have 10 questions that will ask them about their view on music and the mind and how they think music effects them on a daily basis.
I believe that before we begin our field research, we should go over on what questions we should create that will help us sound professional yet help us get the information we need for our research papers.

Ask.com had some good information that i was able to tag and save as a bookmark on my delicious account but the rest of the hits were about psychology itself or information on music institutes and how to learn music. Also, how to buy books/movies about psychology or music on Amazon and other websites that werent helpful at all.
6a: Using Internet Search Tools
Some internet search tools I found helpful to research my topic included Google.com, Auraria's library website, Prospector.com, and dogpile.com. I found out by using Dogpile.com that it is very similar to Google. When I typed in my topic "Music psychology", both Google and Dogpile came up with results ranging from buying music psychology books on Amazon.com, to different articles, statistics, and information about music psychology. I was able to successfully find multiple websites through Google and Dogpile that gave me the information about my topic that I was specifically looking for such as the emotions and feelings of music and how the brain reacts when we humans hear music. Prospector and Auraria's Library website were helpful to me when locating music psychology books and articles. On Prospector, I was able to type in my topic and locate different libraries that would have a specific book that explained my topic. Also, if the book was checked out, I was able to place a HOLD on it so that when it was turned back in, I would be notified through email and able to check it out. Auraria's Library was able to help me locate books in their library that was exactly what I was looking for my research of music psychology.
Some sites that weren't informative or helpful for my topic included citizendium.com and aclin.org. Though I typed in several differnt types of Boolean and keywords, these two sites never came up with what I was looking for when it came to information or was very broad about the topic of music psychology and didn't go into much detail about the subject.
